In a world, where nature just quietly disappeared one day, the members of the New Nature Club seek to fulfill the everlasting human urge for natural experiences by venturing out into the concrete jungle, equipped with ancient audio recordings , helping their senses to rediscover nature in new forms.
The Installation
A walk-in immersive installation to rediscover your personal nature experience through unexpected photographies and sound.
The Frame
A structure of six wooden frames holding plates of milky acrylic glass to evenly diffuse light from outside. A dark textile dome creates a dim and comforting atmosphere while reducing outside noise.
The wooden head is supported by a metal frame with three detachable legs, which leave enough space on each side for visitors to enter.
Clamped to one leg is a custom 3D-printed audio controller with three buttons, giving the visitor the chance to switch between various different nature sounds to find one that correlates with the photographs they chose.
The Black Box
The installation comes with a custom-made wooden box holding 24 acrylic plates. These plates are covered with printed transparent adhesive foil and can be used like slide films to swap out photographs held by the frame, therefore finding individual combinations that have the strongest effect on the visitor.

New Nature Club
All photographs are the results of a specifically designed workshop.
Each plate is labeled with the participant's name and is assigned to a set of six through a code. At this point, there are four curated sets, which can be extended with further submissions at any time.
For the workshop, participants were asked to bring headphones and a camera that they were most comfortable with.
During a loosely guided hike through an urban or industrial area, they were told a story about how all nature suddenly vanished a few generations ago, and we are now trying to rediscover nature experiences in what is left.
While walking, they were free to listen to a provided playlist of various nature sounds, meant to help them find unexpected associations through a change of perspective and sense.
This workshop was also provided as a remote experience through a package of simple instructions and examples, so photographers from all over the world could participate on their own and contribute new insights into cultural characteristics in perspective.
